Immersive Learning in Sport

Can immersive technology play a meaningful role in player and coach development?

WHAT ARE WE EXPLORING?

VR is very good at making people feel as though they are somewhere else.

We're interested in what happens when that ability is applied to learning in sport.

Could coaches step inside tactical situations? Could players revisit decisions? Could learning environments become spatial rather than screen-based? Could people from different places work together inside the same virtual room?

And, just as importantly, where does VR add nothing at all?

WHAT ARE WE DOING?

We're starting small.

We're testing existing VR experiences, building simple environments ourselves and exploring possible applications for coach education, player development and knowledge exchange.

The aim isn't to prove that VR belongs in sport.

It's to discover where immersion genuinely improves learning and where it doesn't.

WHERE ARE WE NOW?

We're in the experimental stage: learning the technology, testing applications and building our first environments.

Over time we'll use those experiments to identify ideas worth developing further with players, coaches and organisations.
